Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve

Research

WADER is working closely with the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve team to assess and quantify the impact of visitor pressure, exploring carrying capacities and particular pressure points. Tapping into the latest socio-economic research, together they are also trialing novel engagement tactics and alternative signage systems.

Overall, this work will allow WADER and the LNNR to track the degradation of the most vulnerable aspects of the project’s ecosystem and the sustainability of existing land uses and activities within the terrestrial, inter-tidal and marine environments. The analysis will be used to inform specific management action including the setting of future byelaws.
