Shorebird Protection

Could YOU be a Northumberland Coast Shorebird Champion?

Would you like to:

• Get up-close-and-personal with shorebirds?
• Get stuck in with real-life conservation work?
• Make a REAL difference and help grow the local shorebird population?
• Be part of our incredible local team?

If so… you could be the perfect fit to join us as a Shorebird Champion at Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. With its rich mudflats and saltmarshes, the Northumberland Coast is internationally recognised for both breeding and visiting birds. Our wildlife team work hard season-round to protect these increasingly vulnerable creatures and their habitats. Bu they urgently need extra help.

A Shorebird Champion will be:

• Passionate about nature and wildlife
• Looking for conservation experience in a seriously rewarding outdoor role – keen to make a difference and see genuine results
• Happy to ‘get stuck in’ with real, on-the-ground conservation work in an incredible wild coastal location
• Eager to get close to some very rare and special birds and have memorable encounters with nature and wildlife
• Keen to work with our like-minded friendly team and experts and learn more about the incredible wildlife on the Northumberland Coast

All Shorebird Champions will get full training and uniform and be involved in monitoring and protection from Day One. The project area will include the Island of Lindisfarne as well as Goswick, Cheswick, and Budle Bay.

Volunteer placements can commence as early as April but are available throughout the summer. All travel expenses will be paid.

Have you got what it takes?

If so, join us as a Shorebird Champion and make a REAL difference in reversing the decline of Northumberland’s precious shorebirds. Contact Andy Denton on 01289 381470 or email [email protected] for more information, or use the contact form at the end of this page.
